At Vanbrugh, and the University of York, there's loads of activities for you to do. Vanbrugh is one of the growing number of colleges to have an allotment, found next to V bar, which was planted by Edible Uni, funded by the JCRC, and is maintained by Vanbrugh students. Feel free to take fruit or veg from here, and participate in it's upkeep. Check out the Facebook group below for how to get more involved - and feel free to help water or weed it if it looks like it needs it!
You can volunteer with one of the many groups in YUSU volunteering. There are groups which work with elderly people, people with disabilities, children and the environment. At the end of term, YUSU volunteering collects food from students to give to the homeless population of York.
Vanbrugh was also one of the first colleges to back the campus Living Wage Campaign which says that no member of staff should be paid less what is required to have a comfortable standard of living - £7.20 an hour outside of London. The campaign is now a society which you can get involved with in campaigning for fair pay.
